Thank you for sharing your story.

All done!

My name is Alana. It is absolutely wonderful to meet you. I am a certifying full spectrum Doula, which means that I support clients at various stages of their fertility, Journeys from pre conception to birth, postpartum in even infant and pregnancy loss supports I work with clients wherever they are in their Journey. What you should know about me. Well, I am the mama to three little kids, my husband, and I live here with their children.
And our dogs in the Lower Mainland. And when I'm not obsessing over all things birth and pregnancy, you'll find me baking watching good documentary or good series. You'll find me making travel itineraries, that'll probably never use, but only ever really dream belt. I love to dance. I love to move music. Is like, what? Soothes? And feeds my soul. I love a good cup of tea. A good cup of tea.
My journey to becoming a doula was maybe a little bit backwards but so natural and goes back to when I was a little girl, I have always loved being in service of others. I was the big sister, the big cousin. So I spent a lot of time, caring for others, caring, for my younger cousins, babysitting kids in the neighborhoods. I later became a camp counselor and spent lots of time, caring for others and other children. And then I spent a lot of time running my own nonprofit.
Because being in service to others really feels feels good. And it's what feeds my soul and I stumbled into Doula work. Actually, at the end of my grandfather's life during his end of life journey. I spent a lot of time with him at his bedside navigating, this huge transformational and transitional experience, and I saw firsthand the power of having an advocate and someone to care for you. That look that look
It's like what it means. And my sister said, to me, hey, have you ever thought about becoming a doula? I think you'd be really good at it. So we did a little bit of research and boom. It's like all things just clicked in my brain and I knew that this is what I've been put on this Earth to do when it comes to my caregiving style. I like to think that my caregiving is based on my core values of Love, Community Connection, and collaboration with all of these things form, the basis of care. I think that's where the magic happens.
And it's how we work together. So as your Doula those are the things that guides all the decisions and all the things that we do together in terms of a, my expertise. Or I'm actually going to frame this as what are my strengths, that is planning and organization. I love to plan, I love to organize and I love a good spreadsheet. So, when it comes to my dual work, this is, I think one of the greatest gifts and the greatest skills, because it allows me to work with all of my clients to really
Can get organized feel prepared and feel ready for whatever Journey they're on. So, these are the things that light me up, and I really look forward to learning about you and your family. And I hope you've enjoyed learning a little bit about me. Thank you.

Hello & What's Next

Hi. Lizzie here. We're so glad that you're part of our brood and that there's so many families who are curious to get to know you and a little bit about your story. We're using video in a creative way so families can see you, hear your voice, hear a little bit about your story, and understand if tour a good fit to jive. Jill's going to help you a little bit more with your setup and we're going to share a few questions for you to practice and think about when creating a really short, casual video to share with folks. Thank you so much for your energy and sharing a little bit about.

Getting Set Up

Jill. Here some quick ways to get set up. Grab your phone or your laptop with a video camera in it. Set it up somehow. Maybe you've got a stand or on a stack of books. You're going to find a natural source of light, like a window. Or if you're like me, you have one of those fancy ring lights. And then click record when you're ready. That's it.

You. So you're all ready to record. Your space is lit. You're looking great. Everything is calm and quiet. Now take out a pen and paper or a postit note, and you're going to think about these three prompts that you'll answer in your short video. The first is I became a doula because I became a doula because the the second is my caregiving style is my caregiving style is and the last my expertise is my expertise is we've created these three prompts, so you can share, pieces that you've studied, elements that you like to apply in your care work to families and anything that feels relevant and true to you. Anything that you would share in person. Make sure that you start all the prompts like you would in a conversation. My caregiving style is based on my cancer sign, I am a water sign. Blah, blah, blah. Whatever feels good to you. And our videos are under three minutes, so keep looking at a timer and keep talking and finish when you're ready to go. Good luck.

Thank you & get consent

That's it. You're all done. Thank you so much for submitting that video. It's really going to help our families get to know you a little bit better, more about your caregiving style, and help us set up the right pairings of doulas and families so they get the care that they need. If you have any questions or want any support in any of these things, do it again. Just want to talk it out with one of us. Get in touch with myself, Lizzie or Emma. That thank you.
